The "Trompe-l'œil" Studio Jacket

A perennial favorite redefined through a graphic, surrealist lens. The Studio Jacket is our signature shirt-jacket hybrid. A boxy, universally flattering silhouette designed for the creative in motion. This season’s iteration is crafted from a premium 100% Cotton Japanese Twill, featuring a sophisticated tonal camouflage overlaid with a delicate, black fine-line floral with a rare, punctuated pop of white.

The Art of the Outline: After construction, each jacket is individually treated in our North Carolina studio. Using a gestural dry-brush technique, the seams and edges are hand-outlined in white to create a trompe-l'œil effect. This sketched aesthetic highlights the garment’s architecture, giving the twill a two-dimensional, illustrated quality that ensures no two pieces are identical.

• Tactile Contrast: The white paint provides a chalky, dimensional relief against the earthy Mushroom and a subtle, sun-bleached glow against the vibrant Sherbet.

• Updated Utility: Refined for the season with expansive rectangular patch pockets perfectly proportioned to hold a journal, a sketchbook, or a phone.

• Sculptural Versatility: Features a dropped shoulder and a perennial popped collar. The brass-snap front placket allows it to be worn as a structured shirt or an open, effortless outer layer.

• The Studio Silhouette: A cropped, straight-cut frame that offers a modern, utilitarian aesthetic without sacrificing it's Art-Wear soul.

The Stylist’s Note: While it can be worn snapped as a substantial shirt, I prefer it as a light jacket layered over a simple base. The contrast between the rigid, hand-painted twill and a soft under-layer creates a beautiful study in weights and measures.
